Naoki missed his fiancée.
A week had passed since her disappearance, and there was no word from her. He received no calls, texts, or letters. Nothing. All he knew was that she went to explore the abandoned village, and had not returned. The police told him that they would search the outskirts of the village; though they did not dare to enter it. Various travelers and natives to the land were reported to have entered the village in the past, but none of them ever returned. Those who were sent to retrieve the missing persons also never came back. The police didn’t want to risk losing more innocent lives.
Naoki understood this very well, yet he couldn’t help but hold a feeling of doubt inside his gut. Kasumi told him that she would be investigating the interior of the village in order to collect accurate information for the article she planned to write. If she only wandered the outskirts, then she would not have clear enough data.

I once created a character named Naoki for a dA roleplaying account, yet he didn't last long since I never had enough activity going on there. However, I was rummaging through my drafts and found this. I touched it up a little, yet didn't write anything new to it. I may do so in the future, though.
